That depends somewhat on what your goal is. Do you just want a plug you can comfortably wear for extended periods of time? Or do you want something on the larger end to help you accommodate larger objects and/or penises?
If you want a comfortable potentially long-term wear plug, aim for something with the widest diameter around or a little smaller than sizes you’re comfortable with already, and with a neck diameter a fair amount smaller than the widest diameter so that it stays in place well, and a sturdy but slim T-shaped base so it can rest between your cheeks comfortably. Something like the Tantus Ryder is often good for this purpose, with a max diameter of about 1.5″.
If you want more of a training plug for larger sizes beyond anal sex, you’ll want something with a thicker neck, but there’s such a wide range of sizes available here and it can be very much dependent on what your current maximum comfortable size is, so it’s hard to provide such advice in a generic sense.
